Name Mix (NY and NJ)

Name Mix, which is located in the investigative options panel, searches all possible combinations of the First, Last, & MI provided in a name search input screen. This feature can be used in cases where it is not certain which name is the surname, first name, or middle name (i.e., Gregory Curtis or Curtis Gregory). The system will search all possible combinations of the full name entered. The number of searches generated is dependent on the number of names (of an individual's full name or the company name) entered in the Last/Company Name field.

Note:  The Name Mix option will also be available in the Profile/User Profile menu under one of the name search services (General Name, Grantor/Grantee, or True Grantor/Grantee).

The History will display all combinations of the full name searched.

Please remember the following when using the Name Mix: multiple names generation feature in DTS 2.0:

• Only one full name can be entered in each of the Last/Company Name fields.

• Separate each name in a full name with a space. No other punctuation marks are permitted.

• Click the Name Mix check box to use this option for the name search.

For individuals with three or more names like Pak Suh Min Chan, you can enter all four names in the last name field and check the Name Mix option and the system will give you back your multiple name results. You can also enter three names in the last name field and one name in the first name field and the system will give you back the same results.

Special characters in names (such as O'Connell) must be omitted when entering names in the name field. In some counties, the special character can be replaced by a space (for example O Connell). In most counties, the special character is completely omitted without any space replacement (for example Oconnell). DTS expands and condenses names to find all possible matches with and without special characters.

When searching with 2 sets of names, each set is retrieved under its own search group item. For example when searching Barron, Jose and Smith, Addie in one search, all matching names for Barron, Jose will be in one search group and all matching names for Smith, Addie will be in another search group. Within each search group, variations of the entered name will be listed after the searched name. The variations of retrieved names will depend on the nickname table used for the county you are searching.  It is possible to retrieve no name variation.

Additionally, to help narrow down the search and eliminate name similarity complications, use the social security number feature by entering the last four (4) digits of the primary party's SSN, if available. The SSN search qualifier will limit the General Name search results.
