The Instrument column of a chain of title record displays a two to three-letter code that is referred to as Document Code or Type. Some of these codes represent legal documents that are integrated into the title chain. The integrated documents are classified into two categories: Primary and Secondary.
Some examples of primary document types that trigger the integration of reference documents into the title chain are:
