For New York Boroughs

(Bronx, Kings, Manhattan, Richmond, and Queens)

The Document Categories panel provides additional options for the user when performing an investigative or order search.  These options vary depending on the Title Service selected. The Categories panel will only display on the following Title Services search screen:  Maps and Subdivision (Subdivided), Block/Lot (Arb), General Name, Grantor/Grantee, and True Grantor/Grantee.

Some counties incorporate the use of document categories on both search input and output.  Each instrument type is assigned to a specific document category.  For example, an MTGE instrument type belongs to the Deed/Mortgage document category.

From the categories panel, the user can click "Uncheck All" to remove the checkmarks from the category boxes displayed. To select and deselect specific categories, click the document category checkbox.

Note:  The Categories panel will have all document categories Checked as a default.

When performing a search, a category code can be selected from the categories panel.  Each of the document categories can be searched individually by unchecking all and selected a specific category.  Additionally, multiple categories can be searched by clicking more that one catergory box or clicking check all.

Note:  The five categories in the red box on the figure (which are the same in bold from the table) are only available for name searches; General Name and True Grantor/Grantee.

If nothing is entered into the Inst field, all categories will be searched.  The resulting search output (regardless of categories selected) will be grouped by category.
